5 Things to Consider When Setting Your Wedding Date

IMG_4179How do you choose your wedding date? There’s a lot more to it than just picking a date and starting to plan! Here are some tips to pick the perfect day to walk down the aisle.

Season

Many times, you’ll already have an idea of the time of year you want to get married, and this can be the first thing that will help you narrow down your options. Consider the style of wedding you’d like to have and the right season for it as you begin to think about your wedding date.

Destination

Dreaming of a destination wedding? There are many things you’ll want to keep in mind: the size of your wedding, destination weather, travel costs and extra expenses you may not have factored in before (high versus low season costs). If you don’t want to wait for the honeymoon to mix travel and romance, a destination wedding might just be the thing for you!

Budget

Budget may affect your choice. June, August, September and October are the most popular times to marry, so prices are inevitably higher. If you’re on a tight budget, consider marrying in the off-season. Alternatively, venues are often cheaper to rent on non-Saturdays — meaning any other day of the week.

Venue Availability

Look at venues BEFORE you’ve chosen a date. With a few dates in mind, you’ll actually have more options of venues to choose from, as some may be available for one or two dates while others might be available for a different weekend.

Guests’ Schedules

Be mindful of your guests’ schedules. If your planning a wedding around the holidays, know that many guests may be out of town or tied up with other affairs. If you have limited preferences, you may want to ask your nearest and dearest about date conflicts and plan accordingly. Be warned that this is a slippery slope if you ask anyone outside your essential circle of parents, siblings and honor attendants.
